INFECTIONS

If you have trauma to your eyes, its important to get a full work up to make sure there is no injuries. Head injuries' can often cause undetectable visual field reduction that is only caught by eye vision tests.
FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL
Metal, wood, and dog hair are some of the common foreign bodies that we see. This can cause intense pain and lead to scaring on the eye and infections.
ONSET/INCREASE FLASHES FLOATERS
Flashes and floaters can be a sign of a retinal detachment that can cause permanent vision loss. If this is the case, an emergency surgery to repair the detachment is required. We have ophthalmologists that we work closely with to get you in asap.
CORNEAL ABRASIONS/CORNEAL ULCER
Corneal abrasion is a tear or a cut on the cornea, the outer layer covering your eye. This is a high infection risk and left untreated can become larger and have a longer lasting impact on your eyes.
POST OPERATIVE PAIN, REDNESS, LOSS OF VISION
It is important to monitor changes such as these post eye surgery. Our optometrists are well trained in post operative management and care.
SUDDEN UNEXPLAINED VISION LOSS
Any level of vision loss or reduction is significant and needs immediate attention by an optometrist to determine the cause and treatment needed.
APPEARANCE OF A VEIL OR CURTAIN IN VISION
This is also another sign of a retinal detachment which is an emergency.
CHEMICAL CONTACT/CHEMICAL BURNS
Chemicals on the eyes such as bleach, detergent, or hot liquids can cause permanent damage and severe pain.
